Steve grew up sailing in New Jersey on his family's SunFish,  and when he was 11 years old his father bought a racer-cruiser and kept it in Barnegat Bay. "From then on, I was hooked for life" he says.

Steve sailed throughout his college career at Boston University, and after graduating entered the sailmaking industry in 1978.  After working for both HOOD Sails and Doyle, Steve joined North Sails in 1993.

Throughout his years in sailing, Steve had the opportunity to sail with many top programs and claimed victories in the Halifax Race, SORC, Bermuda Race, Antigua RaceWeek, Block Island Race Week, 12 meter NA’s, Voile of St Tropez, and Maxi Yacht Worlds in Poto Cervo Italy.

On free weekends Steve enjoys spending time outdoors, whether skiing, hiking, biking or sailing model yachts.
