Li-1 Light Jib $9,970
3Di 870 10850 DPI

The Farr 40 3Di light is based on the current 3DL LC-1. Design modifications is flatter vertically in the top 1/4. To keep the flying shape similar to the LC-1, yet allow to sheet tight enough without closing down the top of the sail and inducing too much return in the lower sections.

This sail will most likely have a higher top end of the range due to the characteristics of 3Di construction.

DESIGNED WIND RANGE:
6 - 11 knots true wind speed

LC-1 Light Jib $9,532
3DL 800 Carbon 12600 DPI
Thin Films

100% Carbon sail, a development of our very successful LB mold. Construction and “bag” weight lighter than previous jib designs.

North Sails works closely with and consults Farr 40 trimmers to improve sail performance. With their input, we have lengthened the LC-1's luff.

DESIGNED WIND RANGE:
0 - 8 knots true wind speed

MC-1 Medium Jib $10,520
3DL 800 Carbon 16800 DPI
Thin Films

The MC-1 has proven itself for a number of years. For 2011, we are increasing the luff length and reducing the amount the sail leans on the lower spreader. The clew car should remain in the same position as previously trimmed.

DESIGNED WIND RANGE:
8 -17 knots true wind speed

Mi-1 Medium Jib $10,976
3Di 870 16800 DPI

DESIGNED WIND RANGE:
8 -17 knots true wind speed

Using what we have learned in the Melges 32 class for 3DL to 3Di mold design changes, we now offer the 3Di medium to directly replace the 3DL medium.

Heavy Jibs - Choice of:

Hi-1 Heavy Jib $10,989
3Di 870 19600 DPI

Using what we have learned in the Melges 32 class for 3DL to 3Di mold design changes, we now offer the 3Di heavy jib.

DESIGNED WIND RANGE:
17-23 knots true wind speed

HWJi-2 Heavy Weather Jib $9,605
3Di 780 22400 DPI
(Qualifies as an ORC #4. Must have on board for each sanctioned regatta)

The HWJi-2 was the first 3Di sail to be introduced into the Farr 40 class and offers the ultimate in performance and durability.

Must have onboard for each sanctioned Farr 40 regatta, but no longer requires a Farr 40 button.

SPECIFICATIONS:
Luff Grommets (Category 4 Safety Rule)
Tell Tale Window

DESIGNED WIND RANGE:
22+ knots true wind speed

DOWNWIND SAILS

The class has decided to go with three Masthead Spinnakers. Two at 30 grams and one at 40 grams. This permits the boat to carry a "family" of MH spinnakers that have an effective range through all the racing conditions. One Fractional Spinnaker must also be carried onboard.

The 1.5S is more of a hybrid designed in between the 1S and the 2S. It is made with 30 gram (0.5 oz cloth), although some boats prefer this design as their 40 gram spinnaker. The 1S is strictly a light air VMG style sail and is also made with 30 gram fabric. Finally, all will utilize a large 2S, with a rule weight of 40 gram (sailmakers 0.7oz.) A fourth spinnaker will be carried onboard -- a fractional sail that fits the old measurement rule. We recommend the current 4S 40 gram sail that will only be used in very extreme conditions.

All North spinnakers are equipped with the following:
