    FLYING TIGER

North Sails is pleased to introduce the Flying Tiger 10 into the North Sails Class Sail Development program (CSD). CSD brings together all the resources of North sails to produce fast and durable sails for the FT10 class.

With extremely competitive one design racing and also a tight sail limitation rule it is important that FT10 sails are not only fast but durable as well.

Both our sail designs and construction methods are very well proven and combined with our rig tuning guide will ensure that not only are your new FT10 sails fast straight out of the bag but will stay that way for many races.

    2010 FLYING TIGER UPDATE

The New South Wales state titles were sailed at the end of February in Sydney Harbour, Australia. The regatta was won by Bruce and Neil Tavener sailing Ophir. Second place went to Andrew Bristow in Hello Tiger and third place to Robert Bryden in Five String Circus. All three boats raced with new North CSD sails. Conditions were perfect with a 10-15kt NE sea breeze and sunny skies. Racing was tight with 3 windward-leeward races on Saturday and one harbour race on Sunday. Every race was won by a North-powered boat.

During the first weekend of March, the Flying Tiger Australian Championships were held with ten boats as part of the Audi Sydney Harbour regatta.

Six windward-leeward races were sailed and the regatta was won convincingly by Andrew Bristow with his sons Toby and Marcus on Hello Tiger with a score of 4,1,1,1,1,1. Hello Tiger used the latest North CSD sails including the MN-1 mainsail, APH-1 jib and MH-1 spinnaker. North Sails-powered boats Five String Circus and Ophir finished 3rd and 4th overall respectively.

Conditions were challenging with a 15-25kt sea breeze which kept the fleet on their toes with plenty of wipe outs seen from all boats. Hello Tiger's crew commented that their new sails gave them a height advantage over the opposition which allowed them to recover from any mistakes they made in the testing conditions.
