In a fleet with some of the world's best sailors you need the worlds best sails.
Report from 2014 X-35 Worlds
by Luigi Rognoni
Fourteen boats from six countries sailed at 2014 X-35 class Worlds in Sanremo, North-West of Italy, from 21st to 28th June.
Nine races sailed in very different and challenging conditions made this event "hard-won" until the last day. Two races the first day saw 23-27 knots of easterly wind; two races on the second day had 18-20 knots of southwesterly wind; two races sailed on the third day had very low and shifty easterly wind and on the last day, three races were sailed in 8-10 knots of westerly wind.
Mr Conte's Giochelotta won the regatta with five 1st place finishes and a complete set of North Sails and Tommaso Chieffi was tactician. Margherita owned by Mr Mazzuccato and tactician Gabriele Benussi ended in 2nd with three bullets and a complete set of North Sails CSD sails
Lelagain, owned by Alessandro Solerio with Branko Brcin as tactician, took third overall with one race won in the series and a full North Sails CSD inventory.
Out of nine races sailed, eight were won by North Sails-powered teams and out of fourteen boats participating, seven were fully equipped with North.
It was an exciting competition where boats equipped with North sails appeared as the most versatile and faster in all conditions.
