Racing goes down to the wire in Fort Lauderdale

Melges 32 ARGO wins 2012 Gold Cup in Ft Lauderdale, FL
Jason Carroll and his team on ARGO won the Melges 32 Gold Cup in Fort Lauderdale, FL this past weekend after an exciting finish to the three-day, 8 race event. Racing with North 3Di upwind sails, Carroll and his crew beat second place boat Robertissima 1, owned by Roberto Tomasini Grinover, who also sails with a complete North Sails inventory.

Leading going into the final day, Robertissima 1 finished the regatta just four points behind Carroll's ARGO. An excerpt from the Melges 32 press release tells the story of how ARGO managed to catch Robertissima 1 after two impressive race days by the mostly Italian team:

"The last two races of the (second) day witnessed Tomasini Grinover and Carroll waging a fierce war. Tomasini Grinover took his worst score of the event in the second race of the day while Carroll and his spirited ARGO team triumphed with a double-bullet afternoon."

North-powered boat took four of the top five spots during the Melges 32 Gold Cup, congratulations to the crew onboard:

2nd - Robertissima 1, Roberto Tomasini Grinover
3rd - Bombarda, Andrea Pozzi
4th - Fantastica, Lanfranco Cirillo
